About the Law Firm Social Media Policy

The Law Firm Social Media Policy is a template for a law firm with contractors and/or employees (Team Member) who post online on social media. It applies to both the social media of the business and the personal social media of the Team Member. It includes sections around:

  • purpose of the policy

  • what the policy covers

  • workplace behaviour

  • work health and safety

  • confidentiality

  • personal use of social media

  • security concerns and identity theft

  • how to report breaches of policy.

It should be added to any other policies you have in place and should be provided to new Team Members when they start to work with you to outline your expectations for social media.

For existing Team Members, give them a copy of this policy and remind them that you require them to comply.

Instructions for use

To use this Template:

1.     Read the policy and determine which clauses will apply to your Business and which you will implement within your Human Resources Manuals/ Handbook if you have one;

2.     Complete the business/ company details in red text in the document; and

3.     Add it to the Handbook or your online policies and make it available to all employees at the time they are employed and at all times in a centrally available place available to them, either online or in person
